Workshop Overviews:

Create Unlimited High-Quality Art Fast Using AI
Nathaniel Carroll

In the past, most studios would barely use any AI in their development pipeline. There were programs and tools that would speed up the process, but nothing to the extent that AI can.

Since the last couple of years of AI improvement, we can now use AI neural networks to bring dead actors back to life, replace actors in movies, and even be used to touch up poor editing from AAA film studios. For example, Justice League and Henry Cavill’s horribly CGI removed moustache. A free tool using the "Deep Fake" process removed it and did arguably a better job.

In this workshop, Nathaniel will introduce you to new groundbreaking tools to create a unique piece of art during the workshop by generating profiles of a person’s face and simply hitting refresh to generate a new person, a new haircut, new face, change age and even change the style of image to turn real-life photo into comic art.

AI Programming Tools of the Trade
Michael Diamond

Everyone wants to jump into making games, but with so many powerful tools, especially with all the new AI tools available, it can be a struggle to know where to begin and what skills the industry wants.

The entry threshold for programming in the video game industry has significantly lowered, thanks in part to advancements like ChatGPT. This AI technology can generate code from instructions provided in English, effectively transforming English into the newest and most accessible programming language. It opens up the realm of game development to a broader audience, fostering innovation and creativity by removing traditional coding barriers.

Michael Diamond will take you through a rundown of potential engines and AI tools to look into, as well as important skills such as version control, task management, and debugging tools.

Career Pathways to Game Development
Simon Banks

Much of the time, career pathways are examined in the general sense, with a focus on the knowledge required to work in a certain field. While this is important, it is also wise to understand the personal strengths and professional values commonly possessed by those in a given field.

In this workshop, Simon will identify for you seven of the core roles commonly found across the Games Development industry and the professional values consistent with each. Via a reflective task, Simon will help you determine to which of these you may best naturally align.
