Limited places remain in our upcoming Work Experience blocks.

Lightmare Studios

Work Experience / incursion

If you are an Australian looking seriously at a future in the Game Development or any of the assorted Digital Industries, or a secondary school seeking a Work Experience offering for your students (Years 10 - 12), this is for you.

If you are a Unique Learner or have a disability, you will be offered first access to placements during our 3-Day Blocks provided across the year

Lightmare Studios gave me the opportunity to bring my art to life. My artistic abilities could barely stretch beyond paper and canvas, but through their teaching, I learnt how to model and more about the digital art industry. With the rapid growth in technology in our daily lives, I believe this step is perfect for those who wish to express their creativity practically.

With Lightmare Studios Work Experience, participants attend remotely online from a school Computer Lab with Teacher Support (Incursion Model) or remotely online from Home (Standard Model).

  • Incursion Model - Attended with in-person support from teachers from school computer lab location.

Predominantly selected by those from a special school and / or who are neurodiverse/disabled from a standard school who are deemed not quite capable of attending without assistance.

A list of required software (which has not in the past clashed with the school’s firewall) will be provided by Lightmare Studios via the school contact, for use and readiness by the school’s IT techs.

  • Standard Model - Attended alone, from home.  For those capable of attending without assistance.  (standard school)

Official Onboarding Instructions for these blocks are provided to students to follow ahead of their block, after Liightmare Studios has received a completed WEA.

Each day is supervised and delivered LIVE with members of our professional Development Team.  Participants take a look at a select number of digital disciplines, some of the latest software, and also the development process itself.  We have further enriched the offering, with each day’s content now actually flowing into an being used in the following.  Specific focus is placed on:

  • Day 1: World Building & Narrative w. Peter (Programmer)

  • Day 2:  Art / Asset Creation w. Nathaniel (Artist)

  • Day 3:  Game Design w. Nathan (Programmer)

Note:

Day order may sometimes differ depending on Dev Team Member availability.

If a student does not or cannot keep pace and falls behind, we have pre-made assets on hand to issue them at the start of the following day.  This is not about their performance, but instead immersion and experiencing how work is actually done on the ground in the fields.

This is typically delivered from 10:00am to 2:30pm on each of 3 days, during a single week period.

We have received glowing reports from participants and parents alike about the curated experience and we hope to help you realise your options from inside the industries themselves.  It supports industry perspectives for students interested in:  IT, 2D and 3D Digital Art, Animation, Programming, Game Design, Graphic Design, Narrative, Community Management and more.

To get aligned with a Work Experience block (3-Days), fill out the below questionnaire and select the block that best suits you.  Note:  We understand that each school has preferred weeks for their students to attend Work Experience, however servicing so many schools across such varying weeks is impossible for our team.  Schools therefore tend to make allowance for the students who seek our placements, to attend these.

I have never known how much work and time it takes to create a character. From the style and personality of the character, to making a 3D model, I had never realised it would be so fun and challenging.

After experiencing the course with Lightmare Studios, it has not only opened my eyes but a pathway to a new industry for me.
